FREE Stuff at Ancestry

Lots of new free stuff at Ancestry.com ... well mostly free. You'll have to read the details and see where you fit in, but looks like a lot of educational sessions which is always great, in my opinion.

Introducing Ancestry Academy, a new way to learn about Family History http://blogs.ancestry.com/ancestry/2015/04/16/introducing-ancestry-academy

Ancestry Academy YouTube [today there are 15 Videos available] https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0xuz8BBkD4jVG1DGMgciIop5t0-yOpJY

So, there ya go!! I don't know about you, but I just don't have time to partake in everything that is available. But what a nice problem to have?!! Hahaha

Cheerio,

So now we all have something to do if it rains this weekend as predicted here in Saskatchewan. Isn't it amazing how much just keeps becoming available online for us? Now, could you imagine NOT being online? Sheesh.

DNA explained + Two Great DNA Reads

I'm still not jumping on the band wagon of DNA testing, only because I believe it' still in it's infancy. There is a pretty straightforward, unbiased explanation at https://legacytree.com/blog/the-who-what-where-and-why-of-genetic-genealogy-testing

But I did read two really interesting books that help me captive for some time this winter. "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot is a totally amazing and shocking true story that I had never heard AND a story that should be known by everyone; and The Juggler's Children: A Journey into Family, Legend, and the Genes that Bind Us by Carolyn Abraham is an easy read with genealogical implications.

I read both books on my Kindle eReader, but they are available in hard or soft copy as well pretty well at all bookstores. Give them a try?

Pat

ScotlandsPeople FREE Credits

Here's an opportunity to get 20 free credits from ScotlandsPeople! http://www.scotlandnow.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/heritage/trace-your-ancestry-free-credits-5466919 I just got mine.

Well holidays are almost over for this winter. We begin our journey home late this Sunday afternoon. Too bad we have to overnight in Calgary. Once it's time to go home you just want to get there!

Thanks for your patience as I've not blogged for quite a while. Guess I was feeling the need for a 'break'.

Cheers all,
Pat
